After being in the corporate world for 24 years, Janet volunteered with an outreach program that checked in on seniors. She saw an opportunity to help seniors and their families.

The personal assistant services offered by No Place Like Home fall into one of 3 categories: Going out (ex. Groceries, appointments, errands, etc), help at home (putting away items, help with online ordering), and companion services (playing cards). Specifically with doctor appointments, there can be issues with communicating or understanding, so Janet makes sure to take notes and relays to the family. Likewise, handwriting might get more difficult so Janet assists with that.

Janet also works with couples. For example, she will help with an ailing spouse while the other gets groceries.

With so many things Janet can do, she won't do administering medication, bathing, house cleaning, or financial advice.

Social events and personalized touches are important,  from Wascana Park to dog parks to taking a stroll through the old neighbourhood. While going on a nature walk with one of her clients, Janet heard, "fresh air is better than any pill".
