Regina Food Bank

We had the pleasure of hosting Evelyn Cerda from the Regina Food Bank. Founded in 1983, the Food Bank claims a spot atop the list of Canada’s top 100 charities.

Over the past several years, the organization has undergone a remarkable transformation—from crisis response to proactive food security planning. The Food Bank has expanded its reach from 13,000 clients and 200 daily hampers in 2019 to 22,000 clients and over 400 hampers daily in 2024.

Evelyn also shared exciting updates about the Food Bank’s new initiatives, including a client-focused food hub offering choice instead of pre-packed hampers and deepening partnerships in the agricultural supply chain. Collaborations with organizations like Viterra, Western Prime, Avena, and Monette Farms help convert local agricultural products into nutritious options for families in need.

With a small team of 23 staff supported by three volunteers per staff member, the Food Bank makes an incredible impact—stretching $0.92 of every donated dollar directly to feeding the community.

BCOR members can support this work through fundraising, volunteering and by connecting Evelyn to stakeholders within the food production value chain.
